About SOL's Italian Food
In 2017, Chef Moreno, an Italian native from Venice, launched a unique food business that combines his deep Italian culinary roots with his love for the Philippines. With over 34 years of experience in the culinary world, including 20 years running Italian restaurants, Moreno set out to introduce a fusion of Italian traditions and Filipino flavors. Alongside his wife, Sol, he founded Sol’s Italian Food—a line of Italian-inspired products crafted from fresh, locally sourced ingredients.
Moreno takes pride in creating all-natural products, free from preservatives and additives. One of his standout offerings is “Kalamancello,” a local twist on the classic Italian lemon liqueur, limoncello. Instead of lemons, he uses calamondin (calamansi), a native Philippine citrus, to produce this distinctive liqueur. His goal was to reimagine this beloved Italian digestif for Filipino palates and offer it as a novel, locally produced product.
Since its inception, Sol’s Italian Food has consistently supported local agriculture, aligning with its mission to promote sustainable farming and ensure the use of high-quality, natural ingredients. Moreno envisions this venture as a sustainable business that can provide employment and skills development for local farmers and artisans, particularly in Italian-style food production. His mission is not only to offer quality, nutritious products for Filipinos but to create items that could eventually be exported and enjoyed on an international scale.
Moreno firmly believes that the key to success lies in setting high standards and offering something unique to the local market. By maintaining a strong commitment to quality and originality, he aims to cultivate a brand that resonates with both local and global audiences.
